M.A.C Pro Longwear Foundation Review and Swatch

M.A.C has been my go to brand for foundation and lipsticks. Their shade range and the variety is like no other high end makeup. M.A.C Pro Longwear range has wide variety of products from foundation, concealer to lip pencil and lipstick. Foundation is the only thing that I have tried by far in this range.

Product Description:

A comfortable, long-wearing foundation that gives medium coverage with a natural matte finish and up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition. Lightweight and creamy, it applies and blends easily leaving the skin feeling soft and free to breathe all day while controlling oil. Specially treated micronized pigments help give a smoother, more flawless, natural matte finish with stay-true colour.

M.A.C Pro Longwear Foundation Review

Packaging: The M.A.C Pro Longwear foundation comes in a glass bottle with pump to dispense the product. Usually the foundations that have pump comes with a cap to cover the dispenser. This helps in keeping the product from drying out. However, in this case the pump itself has a twist function to lock the foundation in the bottle. I love the packaging because of the pump, but it is not at all something I could travel with. Glass bottle and pump without a cap is a deadly combination for disaster.

Forumla and Shade:
The foundation is creamy in texture making it easy to blend on the skin. Coverage is medium and can be layered to full depending on individual preference. In both cases end result is the same. I have tried applying the foundation using different tools: brush, beauty bender and hands. By far beauty blender has been the best way to work with the formula.
There are 23 shades available in the pro longwear range with caterers to both cool and warm undertones. NC35 is the shade that is closest to my skin color.

Staying power: M.A.C claims to give 15 hours long wear, which I do not agree to. The foundation stays on my combination skin for about 6 hourspost which it starts to disappear/fades on the skin. This can be because of my skin type. Ppro longwear is designed for all skin types, it may last longer on dry and normal skin. However, I can only speak for combination skin.

  • Does not stay on the skin for more than 8 hours.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5
